Visualizing your memories

Veil of Echoes is a generative art project that basically turns brain waves into a visual.

With the help of EEG device, we are able to stream your Alpha, Beta, Delta, Theta and Gamma data. According to these data that we get, we are able to generate images depending on the values of each channel.

Goal and Inspiration of VoE

This project focus on mental health, our traumas, memories and more. Let me explain where i got this project idea. In 2024, starting therapy helped me a lot in many aspects. I realized that current self is belong to the past. Our past has huge effect to now. But when you realize that if you go back in time (with some techniques i.e. EMDR) you get a power to interpreting the past. Good thing is you can do it with current mindset, current self.

After touching my past and solving these major problems effecting my life, i came up with this idea: Visualizing Memories.

I had to do it in a proper way in which we should fee safe, inside our boundaries. Veil of Echoes project is unveiling your memories to yourself. Final visual is your secret, only you know the echoes behind the veil. You unlock the power of visualizing your past memories.

This way, we live in peace with our past, maybe get rid of bad memories but we turn them into a living portrait. This project is first my challenge and then the holders of it.

Artistic Approach

After thinking about concept, technical requirements about project i had months of thinking how to execute and visualize data coming from brain waves. First i was thinking to train an AI model and visualize real time AI images. Then i came with an idea and it was exactly what i was dreaming. Turning data into an abstract art.

I started using TouchDesigner. I created many different shapes/abstract visual by using brain waves. After months of challenge i came up with final version of artwork style. It’s actually what i wanted from the start: a storm, a cloud, a veil that masks our memories.

In the next image, you can see nodes setup in TouchDesigner. Brain waves control the motion of the artwork. In this way, each artwork will be unique and different than each other. Holders’ brain waves can go up or down according to their emotions/feelings. This is what makes each piece a story, a unique NFT.

Let’s talk about color palette. In Veil of Echoes, each token has its unique color combination. It will be randomly assigned to each token. I tried to use more vibrant color palettes since this collection focusing on mental health. In the next image you can see all color palettes.

Technical Details and Mint Process

Let’s talk about how we create final images and mint details. let’s simulate creation process of an NFT from presale to tokenization:

  • Collector purchase presale

  • Collector gets soulbond token as a signature of being holder of VoE

  • Artist creates his own contract, creates 100 NFTs with unique palettes

  • After sell out, collectors get a coupon code for EEG device to order it FREE

  • Collector order their EEG device

  • After EEG device arrives, collector and artist have a call (with an app of collectors choice)

  • In this call (session), artist explains technical details about how to record brain waves (with the help of mobile app)

  • Collector records data and share with artist

  • Artist generates final video and updates metadata with the final artwork and metadata
